My Journey - Pro Triathlete Chris Schroeder

Center and Focus With Pro Triathlete Chris Schroeder

Pro triathlete Chris Schroeder discusses his journey in triathlon and how it brought balance and focus into his life. Chris found that triathlon helped him overcome challenges in his life. The sport of triathlon gave him the strength to move beyond the barriers and titles the world told him he was bound to.

When we perform we see physical power but it’s becoming clear that the most important power comes from our hearts. When we listen to it we can truly become who we feel we were meant to be. At least if we move at the beat our hearts sing we can define the path we want in our lives. This Is our interview with pro triathlete Chris Schroeder.

Tell us a little about your triathlon career and how the sport became a passion for you?

One of my teachers introduced me to running, and I found it not only made me feel physically stronger but also made me feel emotionally more centered and focused. I started competing in races and when I moved with my family to NYC, I joined the track team. As my running improved, I wanted to find something more challenging and multi-faceted.

I competed in my first triathlon in June of 2012 and won my age group. From then on, I was hooked. I just wanted to work harder and get better. Since then, I have gone on to compete at the professional level for the last 5 years and recently debuted racing gravel at the Oklahoma Gravel Growler where I finished 2nd.

The world is changing everyday, and it's impossible to know what's next in these uncertain times. But you know I wake up every morning with a smile because I have the privilege of being able to get out and ride my bike and enjoy life. Chris Schroeder

Do you have any future goals or races you want to manifest for the future?

Right now, I want to establish myself as a true professional athlete racing triathlon, gravel, and road races at the top level.

Every athlete is a nerd when it comes to training. What is your favorite pro triathlete gear to train with during your swim, bike, run, or rest & nutrition?

I’m a really big aero nerd; I love researching ways I can go faster. I love my aero race wheels from Irwin. I started running the Irwin AON 88 front with a tubeless Continental 5000 GP 25mm and an Irwin AON Disc also with a continental 5000 GP 25mm in the back.

The front-wheel handles the wind in an amazing way where it feels like a shallow wheel. I also train on the Irwin ARLO alloy training wheel, which I like simply because it’s basically boom proof and you can take it on anything and it will hold up.

Any words of wisdom for any athlete that would like to work towards triathlon?

Get a coach you trust and gear you believe in. The last thing you want in your head in a race is doubt about your training or your gear.

How can our readers follow your adventures in training and triathlon?

Conclusion

As athletes, we all have a story to tell. If we open up the conversation and begin to ask each other about our journies we can learn and become stronger as a community. We are very honored to explore the journey of these athletes and the sport that brings us together. Thanks again to Pro Triathlete Chris Schroeder for spending his time to share his journey.
