In every one of us is a phoenix bird waiting to fly and if we are lucky that firebird will light up the darkest sky. Our Nerd Vincentius Geisler is one of those birds. In the last year, Vince had leaped over some extraordinary obstacles. His story is one inspiration, motivation and a real test of faith. In the past year, Vince had his eyes on Ironman. With this in mind, he committed to a training plan carefully crafted for him by coach and trainer Nick Patenaude. His hard work and dedication were showing massive improvements a truly intergalactic transformation.

Vince's transformation was not only one of physical change but the mind. His strength was explosive, and his mind was more focused than ever. Soon enough he conquered the very wet UBC Triathlon completing the race in ultra-human time. An exciting moment for the nerds.

“Live the Life of Your Dreams When you start living the life of your dreams, there will always be obstacles, doubters, mistakes and setbacks along the way. But with hard work, perseverance and self-belief there is no limit to what you can achieve.” ― Roy T. Bennett

April of 2017 came and went for our nerd Vincent. Hit by a car from a distracted driver on their phone left Vincent on the ground amongst the shattered bits of carbon and helmet dust. His Adamantium (Wolverine reference) body left the car totaled.

“How can you rise, if you have not burned.” ― Hiba Fatima Ahmad Within a week Vince had picked himself up bruised, and in pain, he put his foot forward. One sore breath

at a time he battled images, sounds and feeling from the day. He wasn't ready to have his dreams of Ironman torn away from him. This nerd worked so hard and there was no option to give up. It wasn't over for him he was going to make sure the phoenix rose from the ashes to race again. Months later he had begun to ride centuries preparing his healing body for the Cultus Lake Triathlon by Dynamic Race events. On Sunday, September 17th, 2017 Nerds  Akemi Akutsu, Dave Taylor and Vincent took first place in the relay team. GO NERDS GO! Vincentius Geisler's story of strength and courage is a story that will inspire us all to find our personal power to keep moving forward. We salute you Vince and proud to have you as part of the TriNerd Team. Congratulations!
